Things to do in Guatemala

Tikal is an ancient Mayan city located in the tropical rainforests of northern Guatemala's Petén Department. It is approximately 370 kilometers (230 miles) north of Antigua, with travel times varying based on transportation methods.

Lake Atitlán, located in the Guatemalan Highlands of the Sierra Madre mountain range, is renowned for its stunning beauty, surrounded by three volcanoes and traditional Mayan villages.  Situated approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) west-northwest of Antigua, the journey to the lake typically takes about 2.5 to 3 hours by car, depending on road conditions.

Guatemala's volcanic landscape includes notable peaks such as Volcán de Fuego, an active stratovolcano approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) west of Antigua, and Acatenango, a dormant volcano popular among hikers for its challenging trails and panoramic views.  These volcanoes are easily accessible from Antigua, offering adventurous travelers the opportunity to explore their majestic terrains.
